This week we have the Titans flying over to Indianapolis to face a Colts team that has won 3 straight. Both teams will have their eye on a victory as this game has a ton of implications for the AFC South. The Titans currently trail the Texans by just a game and Indy isn’t far behind being two back of the leaders. The winner of this one will receive a huge boost to their playoff chances in not only the AFC South but the AFC Wild Card as well.

The visitors are coming in on a roll, winning their last two contests over the Cowboys and Patriots. The latter is the far more surprising win, as Tennessee dominated New England on both sides of the ball on their way to a 34-10 victory. QB Marcus Mariota has found his form again and is playing the best football of his career, while the Titans’ defense has also stepped up as evidenced by a rattled Pats QB Tom Brady last weekend. With the Colts coming up next, Titans’ fans will surely like their chances in this one, but they do have to remember that playing on the road is usually not kind to the Nashville-based team.

Indy also comes into this one playing solid football as they have won their past three. Although the winning streak hasn’t come against great competition, this Colts team has been playing far better than expected this year. The offensive line has held up and QB Andrew Luck seems to have regained his form. One of the main issues has been the defense, as its inconsistent play has cost the Colts some wins throughout the season.

All in all, we think there will be plenty of points scored in this one, so we are recommending the over on the points total. The Titans are typically an under team while the Colts usually suit the over, so its merely a question of whose style is going to control the game. Indy has had one of the better offenses in the league this year, as evidenced by PFF grading them as the 10th best offense in the league. Although the Titans’ defense has played well, we think they are in a big letdown spot following their win over the Patriots.

The Colts’ offense has been consistent this year and has scored at least 24 points in their last 6 games, and we think they will get to a similar mark on Sunday. On the other side, the Titans should be able to capitalize on a suspect Colts’ defense that has given up 26, 28, 42, 38, and 37 in five of their last 6 games. Tennessee seems to be finding a rhythm and there’s not much the Colts have on the defensive side of the ball to stop it. The Colts’ ability to not only score a lot but also give up a lot should push the total over.

In terms of a winner, we think the home Colts will pull out the victory. QB Andrew Luck is playing well and has never lost to this Titans team. Indy’s offense has been far more consistent throughout the entire season than Tennessee’s has, and at the end of the day, we trust the ball in Luck’s hands far more than in Mariota’s. With our over pick inferring that this one will turn into a shootout, we have to side with the team that has time and time against shown its ability to move the ball even against good defenses like the Texans (scored 34), the Bills (scored 37), and the Jets (scored 34).
